In the helper, click Open Chrome extensions. In Chrome, turn on Developer mode at the top right, then click Load unpacked.
Select the prepared folder
Click Copy extension folder in the helper. In Chrome’s folder picker, press Ctrl+L, paste the path, press Enter, then click Select Folder. Keep this folder where the helper put it.
Enable recording
Click Chrome’s puzzle-piece icon, open True Author, and click Enable recording. Reload any writing tabs already open. Use Open document library to review your audits. You can delete the setup EXE afterward.
Extension missing or not recording?
Make sure you selected the extracted folder containing manifest.json, not its parent folder. Check that recording is enabled and the site is not excluded. Reload your writing tab after installation or updates. This preview is installed manually; it is not in the Chrome Web Store yet.
